Costa's Coffee Club is in the top 10 loyalty programmes in the UK, appreciated by millions of Coffee Club customers, with hundreds of thousands collecting and redeeming points on a daily basis.
Costa wanted to offer greater value in its loyalty scheme, by enabling members to access their daily coffee more quickly by creating a new ‘pay and collect’ feature in-app, and a fast-lane in store.
Graphite was challenged with designing, architecting and delivering this experience to customers.

Graphite was involved at every stage of the product development - scoping, designing and developing the experience, working with Costa on every detail from generating a time for when the order will be ready, providing the ability to secure a device by enabling a passcode, and configuring a reminder that can be used to remind you to top up when your balance is running low.

Naturally, the ease of the user experience hides an incredibly complex set of technologies. At the centre of it all is Graphite's Middleware, the 'glue' which joins the loyalty scheme, the payment gateway, the queuing system, as well as the administration system for customer services and finance, and all of the security precautions which were designed and configured.
Graphite's middleware handled more than 100 million API queries each year!
