This year on 14th November, the 5th annual British Interactive Media Association (BIMA) Digital Day will happen - a unique and special opportunity for digital professionals to partner with young minds eager to learn more about the industry. It’s a great chance for local agencies to get to know local schools and to inspire students with all the exciting possibilities of a future career in digital. Last year saw great partnerships made all over the country and this year's looks to be even bigger.
The day itself is structured around real world challenges presented by the 3 sponsors each year. Previous Digital Days have seen big names such as Sony, Vodafone and Cancer Research UK all put forward activities for the day which immerse the students in a legitimate brief that a digital team might be tasked with. The day allows pupils to think for themselves and start to explore the process of pooling their collective ideas to respond to a brief.
Since last year's Digital Day, Agencies have maintained links with the schools involved and hosted work experience opportunities with students. It’s been great to see young people take a genuine interest digital and for agencies to get out the office and take an active hand in the future of the industry.
For the second year running, Graphite is recruiting schools and agencies across the south east, and invites registrations from teachers of high school students aged 13-16, and agency leads to register at bimadday.org.uk
